Dancing Free

Posted on Sep 4th, 2006 by Kalika : Imagine... Kalika

All over the world, when people dance, they connect with one another and we all dance as one. I think that dancing is where we all feel equal, at peace, and free.

It sets one free. Any form of dancing. Everyone has the ability to dance, even when you think that you have 2 left feet.. you CAN dance!!

It's done all over the world. Cultures, traditions, rituals, weddings... you name it!

I'm a rock climber and i think that when you climb a route, you are doing some form of dancing, and it's beautiful! It's a dance on rock!

Dancing is even done by animals for mating purposes!

You see! So if you're scared of dancing, JUST DON'T BE!! you can do it! yay!

Anyway, just a little thought! Take it or leave it...

hugs and kisses xxxx

Nature's gift

Have you ever tried to capture that moment when the sunset is at its best? And then we you print out the photo it's just not the same? One cannot capture the moment... we have to live in the moment. We have to grasp the feeling and let it soak through our bodies.

A few weeks ago I was driving to Montague (well-known climbing place) and the sun was rising as I was approaching my destination, and that moment was just beautiful! A feeling of contentment and pure joy filled my soul! There were colours of purple, orange, red, yellow, and the mist was lying low over the farm lands and the sun's rays lighted up the reflection on the dams, and while i was basking in the glory of all this, i turned my gaze towards the mountains and saw the last bit of snow melting away!

Now, i ask you, how can we not live without this? Nature and the beauty of it cannot be put into words, maybe poems....

Anyways, so when i experienced all of this beauty at the same time, i could face any problem which came my way.... Example: My friend and i arrived in Montague without a tent because we were planning on sleeping in a barn which supplied all the neccesaties etc, but then when we arrived there, the barn was turned into horse stables! Can you imagine? So we decided to buy cheap cutlery at the nearest shop and then we went climbing... And what a fun-filled day of climbing it was!! Solution to our problem: we slept in the car!

So this goes to show: the beauty of nature can solve any problem!

Live in the moment guys!

ciao

In Praise of Life

Posted on Apr 20th, 2006 by Kalika : Imagine... Kalika

Hey everyone reading this blog. This blog is an essay which I had to write for school and I thought that it might be a good idea to write it out here and see what you think... so let me know what you think!

They say that the moment a child is born, someone dies at that moment. Life. Nature's constant giving and taking. A balanced circle.

As I sit at the coffee shop, watching people go by, just watching, I am in awe of life. It's so beautiful. Life gives us love, peace, joy, friendship. Life is what we do. We cannot escape it. It is part of us.

People travel through vast deserts, deepest oceans and highest mountains to find out what the meaning of life is, yet they are living it. Life cannot be figured out. You have to live it.

Music and Art is the way to escape the reality of the world and to really connect with ourselves and when we can come to the place where nothing else matters except to be in that moment, then we are truly living. Living life. At that moment, where you are one with nature is the meaning of life. We cannot explain it.

People's opinions and emotions affect our own opinions and emotions and we become detached from what we think. We have lost ourselves in a world of machine-driven opinions and emotions.

Yet, with all this in mind, life still goes on. The rush of the early-morning cars, the radio blasting noises, hooters, people shouting, rushing through work, solving problems, thinking, and then when night comes... peace? No: Dreaming.
I find peace when I'm in the mountains. Away from civilization. Away from everything. There is nothing but you and the mountains and there, time is non-existent. Peace.

For me, life in the world is a constant rush. Even this essay is in a rush: jumping from one topic onto another, because I'm not in my life in nature. I'm not at peace, because my mind has to retire into reality in order to write the essay. It has to concentrate on spelling, time, noises, words, thoughts.

How can one write an essay on life if one's not in a state of peace?

As I've thrown my emotions, thoughts and ideas all together, I've come to a standstill. A breakpoint. There are two types of  "lifes" which we have to live in order for us to be human: Life in touch with reality, the world; and life in touch with nature, your innerbeing. They have to be lived out equally so that we can be balanced and filled. If not, we will not be living life (which are the two combined)

It's so beautiful, if you think about it. In nature, everything works together and we are part of it, yet we also have to work together to be balanced.

So I sit at the coffee shop, in awe, as I watch beautiful creatures living life and they don't even know it.

Here goes my first message...

Posted on Apr 13th, 2006 by Kalika : Imagine... Kalika
Blog. What a strange concept (and name), but yet so effective. So this is the place where it all comes together. Where you can share your emotions and thoughts with people who have the same interests. It's almost like a personal diary, yet it's so real.

I'm at the stage of my life where big and exciting decisions are to be made, soon. Yes, it's matric. "What are you going to do after school?" is probably the most common question asked. My reply, "I don't know. Not studying." When I look at the world and at people and how they've come to where they are, I wonder about the future of my own life and where I will land up one day. But I get so excited, because it's going to be a new season, a new challenge! I want to change the world, or rather, make an impact in the world. I don't know what lies ahead, but I know that it's going to be good. And it will involve art in any form.... that's now rock climbing, painting, writing, travelling, imagining, dreaming, doing.

I can't wait!

We've recently done 2 poems in school which were both written by romantic poets, but before we even did the poems, the teacher gave a long introduction to how romantic poets thought/think and something about the intro touched my heart. It was all about how they wanted to be in touch with nature but for them, nature wasn't just the trees outside, it was passion, emotion, and mainly imagination. They felt that the world was not in touch with nature and the only way that they could be, was through poetry. It was a very complex explanation and I hope I got it all right, but what I actually want to say is that the world is still like that. The world is materialistic.
Yet we can make it so beautiful, so magical. When I'm climbing in the mountains, I can't imagine anything better, I can't comprehend how something so great and magestical could not be appreciated. I just want to stay in that precence. I just want to stand in awe. And when I climb the rock, the adrenaline rush makes me appreciate it even more, and then the top point of happiness is when you conquer a route. When you've reached the top. It's when you believe that dreams can really come true.

The second best thing is painting. When you can express your emotions and struggle with your inner self. Man, when you have these things, life is great!

Well, hope this first blog wasn't too boring and hope you've learned something about me, but more importantly, about yourself...

Life is so precious. You only have one. Make it a good one.

Hugs and Kisses
Kalika :-)
